Justin Simien’s brilliant Dear White People, which makes its debut on Netflix, Friday, April 28, explores the ways in which micro aggressions, hypocrisy, racial identity and activism intersect. Alongside the composer, jazz wunderkind Kris Bowers, Morgan Rhodes worked to create an on-going playlist for the show that reflected the utter dopeness of these characters – some parts indie, some parts hipster, some parts old soul, so – classic material.
